Installation

  1. Download SciMath Keyboard from the App Store.
  2. Open Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard.
  3. Select SciMath Keyboard from the list.
  4. When prompted about Full Access, you do not need to enable it. SciMath works completely without it.

Known Limitations

Dictation

Dictation requires Full Access, which SciMath does not request. To dictate: hold the globe key, switch to a stock system keyboard, dictate, then switch back to SciMath.

Autocorrect and Predictive Text

Autocorrect and predictive text require Full Access. They are not available in SciMath. Switch to a stock keyboard for prose passages and return to SciMath for symbol entry.

Emoji

SciMath has no emoji key. To insert emoji: hold the globe key, switch to a stock keyboard, select your emoji, then switch back to SciMath.

Slide-to-Type

Swipe typing is not currently supported.

Full Greek Alphabet

SciMath includes π, µ, Ω, and ω as mathematical constants and units. Other Greek letters are not available. Switch to a Greek system keyboard for those passages.

Full Access

iOS will warn that SciMath "may be able to access everything you type." This warning appears for all third-party keyboards regardless of their actual behaviour. SciMath never logs or transmits what you type. Full Access is not required and will never be requested. See the Privacy Policy.
